AFC Bournemouth have signed Justin Kluivert, their first acquisition of the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old winger, who is the son of legendary striker and former Newcastle United player Patrick Kluivert, joins Bournemouth on a long-term contract.

AFC Bournemouth chief executive Neill Blake told the club's official website: “Justin is an exciting and versatile attacking player who has an eye for goal. He is pacy, direct and boasts a high level of technical ability.

“We are all very much looking forward to working with Justin, a player we believe will be a great addition to our squad and someone our supporters will enjoy watching.”

Kluivert joins the Cherries after spending two seasons in Rome between 2018 and 2020, scoring nine goals and providing 10 assists for the Italian club.

He spent the last three seasons on loan in Germany with RB Leipzig, France with Nice and most recently in Spain with Valencia.

Should he feature for Bournemouth this season, then Kluivert will become the first Dutch player in history to play in all five of Europe’s top leagues, and will be one of four names to have achieved the same feat alongside Florin Raducioiu, Christian Poulsen and Stevan Jovetic.

And Bournemouth fans could get their first glimpse of him in pre-season against Hibernian on 13 July.
