‘Tis the Season to Give!
This time of year is a favorite for many. We celebrate the season with family and friends, we decorate our homes, enjoy the Plaza lights and hopefully we spend some time giving as well.
If you’re looking for an opportunity to give, here are a few opportunities which benefit the League:
1. Donate through Amazon Smile | Did you know that Amazon smile will donate 0.5% of the price of your eligible purchases to the League? As you shop this season (and after), simply sign in at smile.amazon.com and select Junior League of Kansas City MO Inc from the drop down list. All of our donations combined will really add up!
2. Support the Rose Brooks Center | Rose Brooks provides over 57,000 safe nights a year for domestic abuse victims. Often the women and children they serve arrive at the center with nothing but the clothes on their backs. To help with basic needs, the League is hosting a donation drive through December 14. You can drop items off at League Headquarters or you can bring them to the December 14th General Membership Meeting.
Items needed include:
- Women’s pajamas, sizes: M-XXL
- Women’s underwear, all sizes
- Boys and girl’s pajamas, sizes: 3-16
- Boys and girl’s underwear, all sizes
- Feminine products
- If you’d like to donate, but don’t have a lot of time please consider ordering from the Amazon wish list through this link. Items will be sent directly to the Center
3. Give the gift of Take Five 2017 | Take Five, our premier cocktail party, is a fundraiser that directly supports the League’s mission of promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities. Plus, the event features a $5,000 cash giveaway, exclusive prize packages, live music, specialty libations and local culinary favorites. It’s an experience your friends and family will enjoy – all while benefiting the League’s mission!
4. Fund the League | Contributions to the League are yet another thoughtful way to give a gift or to honor a friend or loved one. You can make a donation to the 2016-2017 Annual Fund, the Legacy Fund, the Community Endowment Fund, the Headquarters Building Fund, Holiday Mart, two signature programs: HealthyLivingKC and Hope & Healing Kits or Take Five! You may even be able to help your employer give through a matching program at your office!
It’s through hard work and generous donations from our members that we are so very fortunate to have many ways to give. May this year’s holiday season bring joy and happiness to you and yours – and to our beautiful community!
