The Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri: women building better communities.
The Niles Home for Children serves the mental health and educational needs of kids in the Kansas City. The JLKCMO members fortunate enough to serve on this committee learned first hand about the power of positive relationships for female residents at the Niles Home. Every Wednesday the committee members met to exercise, eat a healthy meal and visit.
Sophie Doroba from the committee described the wide range of healthy living activities the group did together. There was yoga, Zumba and Pilates, plus new adventures in rock climbing and on the crazy trampolines at SkyZone. A big part of their work included exposing the girls to new types of food, including a lesson in homemade energy bars. They look tasty to me – be sure to check out the recipe here.
And just like so many of the experiences I write about with JLKCMO – the committee members are the ones who feel fortunate. They described the girls as amazing and loved this placement in our community.
