Meet the Board | Betsy Lynch

Meet Betsy Lynch, Director of Finance.

Betsy Lynch has been involved in the Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri since 2006, with a variety of positions on Finance Council.  She’s served as the business managers for both the Resale Boutique and the Holiday Mart.  She has also been the Investment Chair and Assistant Treasurer.  Betsy is a corporate bankruptcy lawyer and the owner of her own law practice, Lynch Sharp & Associates, LLC located in Lee’s Summit.  She is married to Jake Lynch, a salesman for Packaging Products Corporation, and has two children, a son, Jimmy, age 3, and a daughter, Kathy Madge, age 1.  They live in Waldo with their dog, Bogey, who is a 100 pound “lap” dog.  She was born and bred a Missourian, grew up in Sikeston, Missouri and her parents now live in Jefferson City.  She has an older brother who lives in Charlotte, NC.

Betsy serves on the Young Lawyers Council for the Missouri Bar Association.  She is on the Board of Directors for the Association for Women Lawyers of Greater Kansas City and serves as the Golf Chair for their largest fundraiser.  She is the Vice President of the Kansas City Bankruptcy Bar Association, a founding member of the Young Professionals Board for Legal Aid of Western Missouri, and is also a member of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, the Westminster College Alumni Association and Happy Bottoms, Kansas City’s local diaper bank.

Betsy has published articles in a variety of legal newsletters, speaks at numerous seminars regarding owning a law practice, running a business, and bankruptcy law.  She writes a legal blog and is in the process of writing a book.  She has twice been named to the Best of the Bar by the Kansas City Business Journal and was recently named a Rising Star by SuperLawyers magazine.

Although being a wife and mother are first and foremost, Betsy enjoys working for herself and enjoys the practice of law.  She is not much of a cook, but loves to play bartender while her husband does the cooking.  The family often jokes that she cannot cook anything without Velveeta or Ketchup in it (preferably both) and doesn’t have a recipe that doesn’t start with a stick of butter.  She likes entertaining, traveling, and spending as much time with her family as possible.
