The Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri: women building better communities.
Over the next few months, as we prepare for our League’s largest fundraiser, Holiday Mart, we will be featuring some of the ladies that make this event such as success. The Holiday Mart Committee has been working tirelessly throughout the year to create a one of a kind shopping experience for Kansas City shoppers.
Meet Kat DeLeon, 2013 Holiday Mart Transportation Chair and 2014 Holiday Mart co-chair. Kat grew up in the Tulsa area then moved to Dallas where she was a Special Education/Early Childhood teacher for seven years. She has been a member of the Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri for two years since moving to Kansas City in 2011. Kat is married to a wonderful man and they have two Boston Terriers that are the light of their lives.
Kat “Hearts Holiday Mart” and the League because it reinforces through its members the notion that as a unit working together, we can accomplish more for Kansas City than we ever could as individuals.
The 2013 Holiday Mart will be held at Bartle Hall in Kansas City October 17-20. You can purchase your Holiday Mart tickets online!
Holiday Mart is the Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri’s largest fundraiser. This upscale shopping extravaganza has been a fall tradition for over twenty-five years. With more than 200 specialty retailers and over 22,000 shoppers, the proceeds from Holiday Mart support community projects sponsored by JLKCMO, including our commitment to Children’s Fitness and Nutrition.
Since it began in 1987, Holiday Mart has helped to raise more than $8 million for Kansas City community projects and the Junior League’s mission of promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving our community. A donation to the Holiday Mart Fund helps to offset the costs of the event, allowing more funding for our projects.
