The Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri: women building better communities.
Over the next few months, as we prepare for our League’s largest fundraiser, Holiday Mart, we will be featuring some of the ladies that make this event such as success. The Holiday Mart Committee has been working tirelessly throughout the year to create a one of a kind shopping experience for Kansas City shoppers.
Meet Rachel Martin, 2013 Holiday Mart Marketing Co-Chair. She received both her undergraduate and law degree from the University of Arkansas before moving to Kansas City. This is her third year in the Junior League of Kansas City, MO and her FIRST on Holiday Mart! Rachel enjoys running, being outdoors, going to concerts and Bill Cosby! She is engaged to the love of her life (another Southern transplant to KC). She works at KeyBank Real Estate Capital in Overland Park and also volunteers with Girls on the Run.
Rachel “hearts” Holiday Mart and the League because moving here after school, I didn’t know many people and the League was a great opportunity to meet other women with the same values (all while giving back to the community.) The League is involved with so many organizations all over Kansas City and it was a great way for helping me get to know this fabulous place I now call home!
The 2013 Holiday Mart will be held at Bartle Hall in Kansas City October 17-20. You can purchase your Holiday Mart tickets online!
Holiday Mart is the Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri’s largest fundraiser. This upscale shopping extravaganza has been a fall tradition for over twenty-five years. With more than 200 specialty retailers and over 22,000 shoppers, the proceeds from Holiday Mart support community projects sponsored by JLKCMO, including our commitment to Children’s Fitness and Nutrition.
Since it began in 1987, Holiday Mart has helped to raise more than $8 million for Kansas City community projects and the Junior League’s mission of promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving our community. A donation to the Holiday Mart Fund helps to offset the costs of the event, allowing more funding for our projects.
