The Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri: women building better communities.
By: Susan Wilper
The 100th Anniversary committee has been hard at work preparing for the Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri’s centennial celebration! Fun fact – there are almost as many ladies participating in the 100th Anniversary committee (either directly or as a council director) as in the entire Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri when we were originally incorporated in 1914.
A variety of events are planned over the coming yearto pay tribute to our history and look forward to our future. We will kick off the celebration events with a celebrity appearance – HodaKotb delivering a keynote at our luncheon on September 20th. Keep your eyes out for more information about our year of events which will be posted soon.
Looking to add a little sparkle to your celebration? The 100th Anniversary jewelry piece is being unveiled the evening of April 11th at Mazzarese Jewelry.
Stay tuned for snapshots of our history throughout our various communications, including a commemorative magazine, a collage in the rotunda of our Headquarters building, and a traveling timeline and a video that will be shown throughout the year.
While we are looking back at our past including the many community partners we have provided funding and volunteers, fundraisers from the Follies to Take Five (and of course the Kansas City tradition of Holiday Mart), and the trained leaders that we have sent out into the community… take a moment to also think about the future. What role will you play in ensuring the Junior League can continue its mission of promoting volunteerism, developing the potential of women and improving our community?
