Why exercise is worth the effort

Your physical health has a big impact on how you feel.

The endorphins (hormones) produced as a result of exercise can improve your mood, boost your energy levels and increase the quality of your sleep.

Of course, physical fitness is one of the most important elements for a Premier League footballer. They are highly trained individuals. But the exercise they do daily not only prepares them physically for matches, it helps to generate a sense of wellbeing, too.

Leicester City's Marc Albrighton says the hour of exercises he was prescribed each day during the first lockdown in 2020 helped him to start the day well. "It gave me a purpose," he says in a video where he speaks about the mental side of life in lockdown.
